Week 17

This past weekend, we went to Dahlonega, GA, with friends, where the first gold rush was started in the United States in 1828 or there abouts. Well before California.

It was 'Bear on the Square' weekend.  Lots of street vendors with some very nice crafts and food to enjoy.  There were many demonstrations as well.

The music is primarily Bluegrass and there was a stage wet up in a tent and different bands played.  But the more enjoyable music, at least for me, was on the square where individual would join in a small group and play Bluegrass music.  They were all over the place.  Some were as close as 20 feet apart.

We had gone the the 'Mountain Music Festival' last fall and I liked that better, due to the Clogging that accompanied the music, although this was a great treat.  In both venues, musicians join in any group with which they felt comfortable.

The first picture is of Jim Edgerton with The Bear.  He also got a hug from the bear.  There was a rumor that he is the one that hugged the bear.

The next picture is of one of the many groups playing that day.

Week 16

This week, I have a sequence of pictures of a Ruby-Throated Hummingbird.  The red throat does not show up in these pictures, but, from another picture that I took )out of focus), it was lit up as a traffic red light.

The sequence is of the Hummingbird taking nourishment from the feeder.  I was beginning to wonder if any Hummingbirds were going to appear.

Remember, to enlarge the picture on your screen, just click on the photo.  Press the ESC button to return to normal.

Week 15

I drive by this barn often due to it being located next to one of the entrances to our subdivision.  It is not what I would call classic or even interesting, but on Tuesday, the morning sun was glowing on it.  The grass had frost on it and looked lifeless,  What a contrast.  The sun made the barn a focal point.

Week 14

The pictures this week are are result of this months challenge to photograph something in the foreground, middle and background.  These are the ones that I think submit at this time.
